Ok, this is so last minute, and I know the picture quality it not good. But- it is done. My cables project, which is also a donation for the Red Scarf Project. Whew.

October will be the month in which I try felting. More to come later.

Red Scarf Project

I'm intent on joining the efforts of the Red Scarf project. I've been wanting to do some charity knitting AND try out cables, so what better than the Irish Hiking Scarf (see link in my In Progress area). If I can drag my kids to the yarn store, I'll buy the yarn tonight. :)

Another contest: this one is by Golden Purl. Head on over there and check it out. I just love that there are so many contests in the knitting blog community. So much fun. :)

In other news, I prepare to send my little ones back to school. They start next week. Even worse, I go back to school this week. Don't get me wrong- I love my job as a school librarian, but I have gotten a little addicted to knitting and blogging this summer. We'll have to see how I mananage that in the school year.

Hey, here's a contest for you at "The Times We Are Living" Blog. I think that's an appropriate link to her site, but I'm new to this- so who knows? Can the person I link to tell that I did so? How does that bit of magic work?

Anyway, I am working on an afghan, which I thought to use for my KAL in September, but I'm pretty close to finishing it now. It is the largest thing I've knitted, and it is ok. I know where my mistakes are and I hate that. It is sort a basket-weave-ish pattern, but its hard to tell with my photos. Very fussy and muted.

Candy Bag

Here it is- the Candy Bag! I really liked this pattern, and it gave me great confidence after botched attempts at socks on sz. 2 DPNs. I recommend it for anyone in fear of DPNs.

Joined a KAL

Alright, next baby step accomplished: I joined a KAL- The Do Something New KAL. Hopefully it will motivate me to TRY NEW THINGS!

I am using NH Knitting Mama's Candy Bag pattern for my August letter. Trying those DPNs, you know.

Until, I dig out my camera again... another flower from my parched garden. Sweet William, I believe. My mother would know; I wish her green thumb had been passed along to me.

Lion Brand pattern for a market bag- free from the website. I really like it; easy to knit. Since I've finished it, I've seen other market bags with more substantial bottoms. I should have make the strap shorter too. BUT- it is a FO!

Holy August Batman!

Can you believe that August is upon us? That means my days of leisure are coming to an end. The kids will go back to school and so will I. What will come of my new found yarn and knitting obsession? There are a number of blogs that a I read in which the bloggers have many projects going at once. I continue to slog away at an afghan I started to use up some of my stash.

Just Getting My Feet Wet

OK, I have officially dipped my feet into the online world of knitting. I have been following a whole bunch of blogs (Who knew so many existed?!), and I felt compelled to become one of those voices.

I live in Wisconsin and am home for the summer with my two young children. In between caring for them, running a household, chasing our escapee dog, and reading- I've been trying to get into knitting.

I have to dig out my camera before I can post any of the knitting I've been working on, but until then I figure I can ramble about whatever I want- including knitting, yarn, kids, and life!
